The Life and Risk Business Board Committee
The primary purpose of this committee is to focus on all matters relating to risk, health, asset/liability matching and any other matters specific to the long term insurance industry.

The Marketing and Distribution Board Committee
The primary purpose of this committee is to focus on all matters relating to retail and institutional products where there is a retail consumer using such products and includes the marketing of these. This will include product development and customer disclosure matters.

The Economics and Savings Policy Board Committee
This committee will focus on all forward-looking market, product and related policy architecture. It will seek to achieve meaningful progress in selected policy areas that contribute to the growth of the savings and investment landscape in South Africa and strive for competitive equivalence across industry sectors, and jurisdictional boundaries relevant to the South African market. This includes governance, transparency and taxation. In pursuance of the above, it will proactively engage policy makers and develop other strategic relationships relevant to its mandate. Research to inform the above, should be undertaken.

The primary mandate of this committee is to focus on all matters relating to the overall development of skills and transformation in the savings and investment industry.

The Technical and Operations Board Committee
This committee is mandated to cover the Financial Market Infrastructure, namely all technical (IT) and operational processes, procedures and controls relating to the market infrastructures utilized by ASISA members. This includes all issues relating to investment instruments, life office products and collective investment schemes.
The focus of the T&O board committee will be to provide investors and the ASISA members in the South African Investment and Savings market with a most efficient and effective market infrastructure. This will be achieved by eliminating as much of the operational and systemic risk in the primary and secondary markets as possible through standardisation; and to implement the appropriate market controls to manage any residual risk in the market processes.
In order to achieve the abovementioned, the T&O board committee will work in conjunction with other bodies and associations on behalf of members. In the event that future changes require broader engagement, then the T&O board committee will work jointly with other Board and Standing Committees to engage other stakeholders including the policymaker.
