Saver Waya Waya 1

This was a pilot financial literacy project conducted in Hammanskraal in 2014 in the Gauteng province. Hammanskraal was chosen as it represents a cross section of different levels of urbanisation, education and economic activity. The campaign was titled Saver Waya Waya, meaning “to save all the time”.

Format

The campaign was designed to be interactive, entertaining, relevant and practical in a way that is useful to participants and included interactive workshops, industrial theatre, radio dramas broadcasted on a local community radio station, and an SMS campaign with savings tips after the workshops.

Content themes included planning with money, wealth creation, wealth consumption and wealth conservation.

A life stages approach was incorporated to assist workshop participants to identify and address situations specific to their life stages e.g. young adults, young families, and mature adults.
